Mala counters are unique tools for tracking mantra recitations. They help you count one for each hundred and one for each thousand, similar to the concept of yin and yang.
Once you've completed one full cycle of 108 recitations on your main mala, you mark one “yin” bead. After accumulating ten “yin” counts, you mark one “yang,” allowing you to keep track up to ten thousand recitations.
Typically, a main mala contains 108 beads, with a larger central bead called the “Dho Zin.” Mala counters are attached to each side of the mala to aid in counting.
Using a recitation mala keeps the presence of the mantra and its divine energy close to you at all times.
